Hey fellow Pirates,

Need a distraction from the real world? Need something to cheer about?  Then join the PHHS Performing Arts Department as it presents the outrageous, triumphant musical, "9 to 5" on Wednesday, March 29th - Saturday, April 1st.

"9 to 5" tells the story of three unlikely friends who learn how to take control of their lives amidst personal and professional challenges, and
discover that they just might be stronger than they know.

Thursday, March 30th  at 7pm

Friday, March 31st at 7pm

Saturday, April 1st at 7pm

Based on the hit 1980 movie with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton, this is the hilarious, outrageous and thought-provoking story of three female office workers in 1979 who take on their sexist, lying, egotistical, bigoted boss. With an upbeat musical score including pop, country, jazz and Broadway tunes, and a large ensemble cast, this show will make you cheer!

“Imagine if something were to take away all of your memories and the life you worked so hard to create filled with family and friends!  Imagine maybe one day not even knowing your name, how to drive, how to eat, or what to say in a situation!  That is what Alzheimer's does....it takes away so much which is why we must give.  We must find a cure for this horrible disease   One in nine people age 65 and older has Alzheimer's disease and that number increases each year.  Give of your time, give money, give a few minutes to consider what you can do for someone who is suffering from Alzheimer's!  I was definitely impacted because it was heartbreaking to see those things we used to laugh about or reflect upon gone from my Daddy's memory.  The last years were not filled with thoughtful discussions.   It has also impacted me because at least once per day I pray that I will not ever be diagnosed with Alzheimer's ....or anyone I love!  - Mrs. Murray, PHHS Social Studies Teacher

NOISES OFF

Written by Michael Frayn
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French
November 9 –12, 2016

Noises Off is a British farce  which provides humorous insight into the onstage and offstage challenges of producing a play. What’s a farce? Noises Off is a superb example: a high-energy comedic romp involving highly improbable events, impeccable timing, misunderstandings and mistaken identities.

Structured in three acts, the play’s first act introduces the cast and crew of Nothing On, the play within Noises Off. The night before opening, the actors are struggling to get their entrances and exits and innumerable plates of sardines in the right place at the right time. The late hour and increasing tensions begin to reveal the fraught interpersonal relationships between the characters. The first act leaves you wondering: will they get it right before opening night?

In a dramatic transformation of space, the second act of Noises Off takes place backstage during a midweek matinee of Nothing On. The show has been touring for a month and the actors’ dysfunctional relationships are starting to take their toll on the production.

The final act takes place during the closing night performance of Nothing On. The play and the characters’ relationships are barely holding together. Mishap after mishap piles up as the characters attempt to untangle the disastrous performance and arrive at some sort of rational, salvageable end.

"The most dexterously realized comedy ever about putting on a comedy. A spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce. This dizzy, well-known romp is festival of delirium."

The New York Times

"Bumper car brilliance...If laughter is indeed the best medicine, Noises Off is worth its weight." New York Daily News

“It’s just pure hilarity from start to finish. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, the play’s goal is to make you laugh, and laugh, and laugh.”

- Meredith McDonough, Associate Artistic Director,

Actors Theatre of Louisville

All students arriving in vehicles must use the designated student drop-off areas.  The faculty parking lot on Ruskin Drive is not a drop-off area.  Instead, use the designated drop-off parallel to the street.  You may also use the drop-off area in the student parking lot.  It will be safer for students and employees if all of our PHHS community participates in this effort.
