WILLIAM BROWN

A little personal background:

I graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Humanities--European Studies and a minor in English. For the first several years after graduating I pursued my passion in the sport of fencing both as a competitive athlete and a coach. After retiring from competitive fencing, I continued coaching for many years while also teaching at Piedmont Hills. I currently do some weekly work with the Sea Scouts, ship 145 "Challenger."

I started teaching at Piedmont Hills in the fall of 2000. Over the years, I have taught at every grade level, but I have the most number of years teaching AP Literature and Composition, English 1 (both regular and advanced), and Journalism.

Although I have been know to spend some of my summer breaks reading essays (I have been an College-Board AP Literature Exam reader seven times), I prefer to spend summer days vacationing with my wife, playing with powerboats or sailboats on San Francisco Bay, or riding my motorcycle along the coast.
