About Me

I have been enjoying every minute of teaching since I started teaching at the Home of the Pirates in January of 1998.  I have had many roles along the way including Business Teacher, AVID teacher, Staff Development Coordinator, English Language Learner Mentor, Summer School Coordinator, Instructional Team Leader, Yearbook Adviser, Magnet Coordinator, Class Adviser, Club Adviser and more titles I am sure I am missing. But from now until 2027, my most prized title at PHHS is Proud Pirate Parent.  Being at a point in my life where I can teach students the age of my own children has been quite exciting.

I came into teaching through an odd path.  I attended SJSU where I earned a BS in Business with a concentration in International Business and Management and minor in Humanities and Latin American Studies.  I then decided I truly loved learning and being in school.  A friend suggested I look into teaching as I could continue with those passions, so immediately after graduation, I concurrently enrolled in a credential program and MBA program at SJSU.  Within two years I earned my multiple subject credential allowing me to teach K-8 as well as my single subject credential in Business and an MBA.  As luck would have it, Piedmont Hills offered me the perfect job that fit with my educational and personal background. I also tinkered with the idea of entering administration and earned a Masters in Educational Leadership but have since decided that for now, summer at home with my children trumped entering the administration world.
